How Somatic Coaching Works
Somatic coaching goes beyond traditional analytical or “talk” methods of coaching. Instead, it taps into the body’s inherent wisdom to release trapped emotions, sensations and stress. It’s based on the awareness that our physical selves, through the nervous system, are active storage centres of life’s experiences, including trauma. These experiences, often unconscious, manifest in our bodies as physical tension, embedded behaviours, and disempowering beliefs. Such manifestations leave us feeling ‘stuck’ in certain areas of our lives, with us repeating the same patterns despite our best efforts to move beyond them.

My Journey to Wholeness
My childhood, loving yet scarred by physical, emotional and psychological violence, profoundly shaped me. Despite numerous therapies and extensive “inner work” in adulthood, I continued to feel stuck, unable to shift deep-rooted beliefs and behaviours. I often felt like I was acting and reacting on autopilot, and while I thrived in some areas of my life, internally, I felt blocked and incomplete. Not knowing what else to do, and having felt like I’d already tried everything, I accepted this way of being and feeling, as an unchangeable reality.
It wasn’t until my mid-thirties that a revelation shifted everything: I discovered I had Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), a condition common among childhood abuse survivors. This insight opened the door to new explorations and, inspired by Bessel Van der Kolk and Peter Levine, I turned to somatic coaching and its methods for healing.
What I learned through somatic coaching, taught me to consciously inhabit my body, allowing me to compassionately explore and transform the patterns holding me back. This process uncovered wounds that could be safely expressed along with deep needs, leading to newfound understanding, integration, and healing.
For the first time, I was able to overcome crippling beliefs around my self-worth, like “I’m not enough.” As I discovered safety within, I could release my perfectionism and need to control. I learned tools to constructively process my shame and found strength in techniques that helped me assert myself and my needs. Through the healing and integration somatic coaching gave me, I could embrace my potential, achieving a life I’d once considered out-of-reach due to my limiting beliefs and behaviours.
Somatic caoching didn’t just change my life; it allowed me to authentically pursue my dreams. This is what it can offer you too.

What to Expect from the Somatic Coaching Program
I offer a coaching package of 5 or 10 coaching sessions. The sessions run for 45-minutes and take place online via zoom. At the end of your coaching package, we reassess, and you get to decide if you wish to continue with a new round of sessions, or not. Some clients come to work with me on a very specific topic and are able to reach their goal within one round of sessions, whilst other clients work with me for years, bringing new material into the sessions as they continue to evolve, and we create new goals together for their healing and transformation.
I recommend a session frequency of every 2-3 weeks. This gives you enough time to integrate what transpired in the last session, as well as practise any of the tools and exercises that came out of the session. But it’s not too long a time for you to lose motivation.
I’m a certified Somatic Coach as well as a senior yoga teacher and breathwork facilitator. The techniques I use are a combination of somatic coaching tools such as focusing, sensing, pendulating, titration, expression, gesturing, vocalisation, body mapping, tension release, as well as tools from yoga and mindfulness, such as compassionate presence, loving inquiry, breathwork, polyvagal techniques, and body movement. I’m also trained in Attachment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Holistic Voice Therapy. When the session and your unfolding requires it, I may draw upon these tools too, to support you.
Before beginning with a new client, I always offer a free 30-minute discovery call, so that we can get to know each other, discuss your needs and feel if we are suited to working together. This session is non-committal, you may book it and meet with me without any obligation to continue.

Kirbanu is an Australian Bhakti & New Age musician, yoga teacher, voice trainer, and personal development expert who has given over 1,000 concerts and workshops across Europe and Australasia in the past 10 years. She has independently released 6 albums and performed at more than 40 festivals and conferences. As a recognized trainer in voice, mantra/Bhakti, philosophy, mindset transformation, and Yin Yoga, Kirbanu annually oversees more than 20 yoga teacher training programs.
Since 2014, she has been running her own Voice Empowerment® coaching.
